When I first met with Yellow Door, I could clearly articulate what we DIDN’T want our wedding to look like, but I had a much harder time coming up with what we DID want it to look like. John asked me many questions and showed me samples of their work. He also showed me pictures in different floral books, etc. and helped me create my own vision! In the end, all of our friends and family commented on how “perfect” our wedding was and how it was “so us.” Even now, almost two years later, our guests still comment on the beauty of our flowers and how everything flowed together. We even have friends who ask to see our pictures as they’ve planned their weddings.
Many personal designs were incorporated into our wedding décor. I had sewn a monogrammed runner that we were using during the ceremony. I sent them a digital picture of the runner and Yellow Door was able to copy the monogram and create it in flowers as the backdrop for the name card table. From the moments the guests arrived at the hotel, the mood was set. It was such an understated “tie in.”
The bridal bouquet was unbelievable. I wanted something very simple, yet elegant, as the bodice of my dress was quite detailed. On the flip, I wanted the flowers in my girls bouquets to be eye catching and colorful. I wanted them to all look the same with the Matron of Honor’s slightly different. Her bouquet ended up being similar to the other girls’ with the addition of some of the flowers from my bouquet to make it unique. The girls’ bouquets matched with the boutonnieres that the men wore. It was perfect!
We were using a family table cloth as part of our chuppah so we wanted everything else surrounding the chuppah and the aisle during our ceremony to be simple. The backdrop was elegant for our ceremony and aisle treatment was subtle for the bridal procession. We also wanted something that went with the reception decorations and that could be “reused” during the dinner. We got exactly what we asked for; it was understated elegance.
As for the table decorations… the beauty far surpassed anything we could have imagined. We used three different table shapes (square, rectangular and circular) and we wanted a different centerpiece for each shape table. It was important to us though, that the room “went together.” In listening to my likes and dislikes, three very unique centerpieces that complimented each other were created. In addition, the table for Rich and I and our parents blended the elements of the three guest table designs for a unifying and complimentary design. We also wanted something that made Rich and my seats stand out. Floral monogram letters of my
new last name were on the back of our chairs, tying back to the name card table and the aisle runner.
On a final note, I felt such comfort with John our designer. He really listened to my requests as the bride. At times, when we were meeting, he was dealing with me, my mother, and the wedding planner. At the end of every session, he went over requests, changes, etc. to make sure he had gotten everything we had said. He also made follow up phone calls to me, to make sure that my
wishes and desires were being fulfilled. As the bride, he wanted to make sure I was completely happy and comfortable. We have confidently recommended Yellow Door to friends since our experience with John and the entire staff at Yellow Door. They truly helped us create our dream wedding and more.
