I wanted to create a modern, sophisticated, tasteful wedding. I loved the color pink and thought it would look great on the bridesmaids, in the flowers, and throughout the wedding. Combing pink with orange, I thought gave the wedding a colorful and fun atmosphere, instead of the more traditional, formal, white wedding. I also loved roses and wanted them to be included, but not overwhelming in the centerpieces. I found a few pictures that struck me of centerpieces and cakes from magazines that allowed me to convey my ideas to our vendors.
In working with John from Yellow Door, when we first met I mentioned my ideas for how I wanted the wedding to feel (modern, fun, and with a few traditional elements) and showed him some pictures of bouquets and centerpieces I liked). We discussed his vision for the wedding,
incorporating my suggestions, and batted around some ideas. He sent me pictures of examples of centerpieces and bouquets he had previously prepared, which allowed me to get a better sense of what the flowers would look like. Then, I decided on specific colors and blooms. At the tasting, he brought examples of each centerpiece which allowed me to really get the feel of what the flowers would be like at the wedding. On the wedding day, I was thrilled with the flowers and could not believe how beautiful they were. John conceived of the flowers for the Bimah with only a few suggestions from me, but they turned out exceptional and really enlivened the chuppah. I loved my
bouquet, the bridesmaid's bouquets, and especially the boutonnières. The centerpieces were also beautiful and really brought out the orange and pink colors of the wedding. I also loved the flowers on the cake; they really added to the otherwise plain white cake. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the flowers and thoroughly enjoyed working with Yellow Door.
